Week 15 - Eldar Wave Serpent tank/transport

Here's my newest Eldar addition, a Wave Serpent transport to keep my squishy little space Elves safe. The primed version looks orange but that's just a consequence of the lighting, the primer I use for my Eldar stuff is just basic red primer. Not too much else to say here since you've seen the scheme before, hope you like it!

Week 14: Karl - WWII German Artillery and Transport

We interrupt the regular program schedule to bring you some Battlefront 10.5 cm German Artillery for Flames of War. The THMG hosted a historical refight of a portion of the Ardennes Offensive (Battle of the Bulge). I found out last week that even though I was commanding a heavy panzer company (representing 1 SS Panzer) I had some points left over. A motorized artillery battery would be great support for the big cats and I already had the models for my grenadier company.

The panzer grenadiers I had been supplied with came without tranportation, so I threw a few trucks into the painting queue.

I still need to do a little more basing and fix the windows on the transports.

Week 14: Karl - Squig Herds

Phew! Finally I can get back to painting! I've finished with my classes and assignments and I have a WHFB game on the horizon. So I pulled out my goblin army. Uh oh, I don't have enough squig herds, even in my painted unit and some of those are scratched or unfinished.

So the plan for this week is to touch up the painted figures and finish as many squigs and herders as possible. These units provide colour in my otherwise drab (black and green) goblin army. I have the giant squig Gobbla to take up as much room as possible, and I am getting creative with the basing of the herders to use room in the rest of the units.

The game is on Sunday, so this is going to be a quick job!

Week 14 - Necron Wraiths

My first Necron figures painted in over 2 years! I decided to finally invest in 6 Wraiths to try and create a close-combat core to my Necron army. These are the first three, the others have been in shipping limbo for what seems like ages, I hope they arrive soon.

You'll notice I added 5/8 washers to the bases to weight them down better since I had a feeling the models would have a tendency to fall over - I'm pretty happy with the choice.

The paintjobs are a standard look to match my extremely standard looking Necrons (I just love the traditional, sleek metallic look). Super fast to paint and they died just as quickly in their first game, ha ha. They may mostly suck gameplay-wise right now but I like the models and I think things will get better once I can field three more to maximize the chance they'll actually get to roll for We'll Be Back (if you know what that is). Hope you guys like them.

The Herald of Discord, week 14, Chaos Space Marine

I love the idea of gun wielding maniacs with a weapon in each hand. My first space marine was a two-gun toting guy with dual bolt guns. Unsurprisingly his name was two-gun. Many of my Chaos Space Marines follow in this position. Seeing as I am already two behind after this post, I knew I needed to get something done and do it quickly. Thus, another silver marine stepped up to the plate. Not only do I love this scheme, but it is hella easy to paint and perfect for the rank and files.

I also did some conversion work, as I love gluing bits together...its so much more fun than painting. Hopefully one of those conversions will make its way onto this blog as well, but for now, it will just have to go up on my other blog.

Week14 Senekal - Flying in Space

Well folks, personal realities have kept me away from the painting table for awhile, but finally this past week I've been able to get some stuff done.

While I still have a number of tanks on the go - I've not had either the time or the motivation to work on them the last little bit. Needing something else, I took advantage of a friend's company and reference material to take a box of BFG spaceship bits and build them into actual ships. Then, over the weekend while watching my little one (after bed or during naps) I got the two ships above painted up!

Week 13: Tristan - Orcs (blood bowl)

Well I've had a bit of a break over March, but I'm hoping here's a spark to start my paint-fu up again. I participated in my first blood bowl tournament in March, and another is coming up at the end of April. Having used my undead team last time I wanted to use something different. This didn't leave me very long to get a team fully painted - so I decided to finish up as many pieces as I can for my Orc team - funny enough coinciding with the last item I painted for this blog - the snotling score counter. So far I've gotten 8 more pieces painted, still have a turn counter and need to make some reroll counters - but I definitely needed the two extra black orcs & blitzers.

Week 13 - Howling Banshee unit!

Here's my completed unit of Howling Banshees including Exarch. They are painted to match the overall feel of my Eldar army and to complement the look of the Dire Avengers I originally painted. The only thing left to do is the Space Marine helmet the Exarch is stepping on since I couldn't decide on what colour to do it but since I can just fake it as a Blood Angels helmet for the time being (for obvious reasons) I figured I'd post the unit up. Hope you guys like them!

Scallywag: Week 11, Undead Pirate

Well I think it has become obvious that I won't finish all 52 for the year. I spend a lot of time on each mini and a fair number are bigger than 28mm. Still that being said I will forge on and see how many I can finish. My 11th is an undead pirate from Black Scorpion. The detail is decent, but not huge. The sword lets him down a little as its very thick, much like Reaper does.

However it isn't terrible and I think it would make a cool rpg mini. It comes as part of a four pack for $20.00 making him $5.00 for that I think he is ok and I got 5 bucks worth of entertainment painting him.

Dirtied his pants, rusted his sword a little. bleached bone and several browns to darken up his frame. For something different it was fun. I will be hitting the other undead pirates from this pack a little later on.

Week 13 - The Warboss' Pets

Hi Everyone,

This is my first post, and as I haven't been painting in awhile, I decided to keep it simple. I've been playing my warboss with the "attack squig" and "ammo runt" upgrades, so I finally decided to paint them up.

There! He'll be much happier now that he has someone to carry his stuff, and something to kick when he gets mad.

Week 13 - Mortenebra & Deryliss

Got another Cryx warcaster today, this time Mortenebra with her pet Scarlock Deryliss. I've been playing Morty recently and quite enjoying the army style so I decided to finally paint her up. Surprisingly she was not as hard to put together as people have complained before, what with all the little metal legs and long arms.
